The Teachings of HadesTwo deaths within this month leave me little to write of that is not steeped in the realm of Hades. One funeral attended – one still to come. The priest at my friend’s funeral spoke of how he faced his painful death with calmness and trust. For a moment I felt small and ashamed. Here this brave soul faced his painful death with a calmness born of trust and faith. Yet I, too often, have my peace robbed by fear and doubt over seemingly small things... my trust an elusive thing. Or is it? When I am fearful is my faith really gone – or have I not gone deep enough? Death again this week, forced us to dig deeply for our true source and strength. Here, in our heart and soul; our strength, steadfastness and trust live on. I see now, this well of strength and trust is our essence. It is our lifework to return to this well for ourselves and for others. It is our lifework to be there for those we love during times of trouble and death. When we are in the midst of tough situations – trying kids, family upsets, work/money worries, a loved one dying, an illness; what seems like an unbearable duration of suffering in retrospect is gone all too fast. The very ordeal I wanted to end – now seems gone far too fast. Let us not rush or wish anything away however difficult the moment is. Let us not judge this experience as good or bad. Let us go to the well and trust; living each and every moment dearly; giving thanks for all; knowing our time together is short. “Do not ask for whom the bell tolls; the bell tolls for thee…”
The Power of SpiritualityNot wanting to end on too heavy a note – please visit our site. We have added some excellent articles from “The Rise of Conscious Capitalism,” by Patricia’s Aburdene. The new megatrends are very encouraging and uplifting in spite of what is happening in the world today. Read this excerpt from one of the seven new megatrends, “The Power of Spirituality,” and know what a difference you can make in your world! Meeting the Enemy Meanwhile, the quest for spirituality flourishes in society at large. I’ll soon cite plenty of figures to illustrate that point. Yet many people, even those who are spiritually aware, envision the business establishment as an armed fortress that will somehow repel the transformation everyone else is going through. That is not going to happen. Because business does not possess the power to prevent people from transforming. Yet there’s little wonder why we think it does! The business world often portrayed on CNBC and in The Wall Street Journal boasts, not just a single-minded passion for turning a buck, but unmatched devotion to assassinating any high-minded ideal that might get in the way. Well, guess what? Mainstream business is under siege, from activists and regulators, as expected, but even from investors. And all the barricades in the world cannot defend it. Because the most dangerous adversary of all—a transformed individual—lies within and we are IT. Whether spiritual CEO, activist middle manager or visionary entrepreneur, we’ve opened our minds and expanded our hearts and there is no shutting either of them down. So much so that as I edit this chapter in early 2005, both CNBC and The Wall Street Journal have just run stories on spirituality or faith in business. Conscious individuals transform organizations. Period.“ For a list of all seven megatrends click here.
So folks, I look forward to hearing from you. I think we could make this newletter more interesting and useful with your input - of which I haven't had a lot so far! I am sincerely looking forward to hearing your ideas, input, stories, thoughts, quotes, jokes?
Until next month,
