An ApologyHello friends, To begin I'd like to apologize. I was promoting my telephone consulting service that I was SOON to launch in my last newsletter. Well, soon has turned into delayed until further notice! In a way, this is very good news. A new workshop I launched here in Vernon, B.C. has suddenly gained quite a demand in neighboring cities and I haven't even completed the pilot. Yes, it seems "Create the Work You Love," has struck a chord in many hearts. As our teenage son so succinctly said, "Are you kidding me? Of course, everyone is asking you to do the program. Can you imagine how all those people going to work everyday - hating their job - would feel when they see a workshop called 'Create the Work You Love?'" So, I have plenty of contracts and workshops booked from now until May. Thankfully, I have mostly remembered to put my LIFE first (turning down some not so lucrative contracts) to prevent overwhelm (OK I teeter into there a few times at great expense to my well-being). Hence, my telephone consulting business in now on hold until further notice... (However, if you want to be notified as to when I'll begin my telephone consulting - and be assured of the introductory price - you may sign-up on the Notification List at the bottom of this page.) Here is a little pearl I created which I use in my workshop "Create the Work You Love," with very interesting threads and insights. Trust you'll enjoy the insights gleaned for yourself. (Yes, we actually have to do all of the exercises to gain self knowledge and insights when we are seeking our calling.) "Seek and ye shall find."
Ponder Your Past Life for PearlsAs author Gail Sheehy comments you know you’ve uncovered your passion if it is something that stands the test of time. Or as James Hillman describes in The Soul's Code: "Sooner or later something seems to call us onto a particular path. You may remember this "something" as a signal moment in childhood when an urge out of nowhere, a fascination, a peculiar turn of events struck like an annunciation: This is what I must do, this is what I've got to have. This is who I am. If not this vivid or sure, the call may have been more like gentle pushings in the stream in which you drifted unknowingly to a particular spot on the bank. Looking back, you sense that fate (God, your Higher Power) had a hand in it." (Brackets mine.) From this springs James Hillman's "acorn" theory in which we all have the seed of our calling within us at birth. This unique guiding force, called "daimon" by the Greeks, "genius" by the Romans, "guardian angel" by the Christians; and today by such terms as "heart, spirit, soul" calls us to a destiny just as the mighty oak's destiny is written in the tiny acorn.
Ponder Your Past Life: Reconnect With Your Acorn & PassionExercise: Pull out old family photo albums. Journey back to your childhood memories and think of what you loved to do – especially when you were alone and allowed to play, or daydream, or do whatever you wanted.
