Are You Living Your Lifework? As another year draws to a close my husband and I ponder the fullness, blessings and challenges of our past year. Also we reflect upon how we want to live this New Year… live each new day… which of course determines the quality of our life. Let me tell you of my New Year’s aspirations - my heart’s longings. Firstly, I aspire to daily live my lifework hence living more closely to my God. Lifework is aptly defined by June Singer; author of “Modern Woman’s Search for Soul.” “Lifework means that to which one devotes one’s energies. It is the work of the soul as well as the material work done in the visible world.” The two are not separate although it is easy to forget we are also called to spiritual, soul, Godly work in each moment as well as the work at hand in the physical world. Every moment is an opportunity to remember our lifework is about more than the surface world we see… as the river recently reminded me. The River SpeaksYesterday, while in Keremeos visiting my husband’s mother, I told my husband I wanted to walk down to the Similkameen River despite our tiredness and the cold. In half jest I said, “I want to hear what the river has to say to me.” Often, soulful insights and restorative nourishment are gifted to me down by the river side. Great, white slabs of frozen river were heaved upon the shores. The crystalline green waters of the Similkameen were obscured by white ice stretching from shore to shore. Gingerly we walked upon the frozen expanse peering into ice fissures many inches deep. We dared not tread near the main channel where the ice thinned. Standing in silence upon the river’s frozen beauty we heard a faint sound. Behold! The river was chiming, tinkling, singing beneath our feet - her flow back to the great mother ocean unbroken. Hearing the great river’s flowing presence beneath my feet upon the frozen surface steeped me in awe. What a metaphor for the visible and invisible world in which we daily live. This river metaphor also spoke to me of the ice melting in the spring and all returning to the One. Everything is SacredAuthor, June Singer speaks of how our ancestors saw the sacred in everything. Each of us can create sacred space wherever we are - beginning with a sacred place within. From early monastic times ‘sweeping the temple’ was seen as physical work and also, sacred work. Another New Year’s aspiration for me is to see all my work from cleaning our home, to my writing and my Lifework Mentoring as ‘sweeping the temple.’ Also, this New Year I choose to make more of a conscious effort to make our home and wherever I go, sacred space. Dear reader, what does your heart long for? What are your New Year’s aspirations? Listen! The answer you seek tinkles just beneath the surface… We would love to hear from You at |
"Teresa, thank-you so much for sharing your strength and wisdom with me -- and for giving me a gift I didn't really realize I needed -- permission to truly express my authentic self and to tell the world who I really am and what I offer. For that I am truly grateful."

Each of us has our answers within - sometimes we just need to listen more deeply, practice more patience, solitude, reflection, contemplation and sharing with someone who listens and cares. For many people - friends and family cannot offer this type of mentoring or support when the time has come to listen to one's own truth above all else.
Within my Lifework Mentoring I offer suggestions and practices for you that have brought me closer to my True Self, and have resurrected my mission and my passion from the ashes. Most of us simply need someone who can reflect our “holy music” back to us and encourage us to follow our True Self. It is so easy to overlook our own ‘God-ness.’
