Seeking One's Calling

Recently, I received a query from Bruce within our Finding Your Passion Forum. You may be able to relate to Bruce. He writes of the love of his family, work, financial security yet, still KNOWING he has something great to offer the world… a calling which he hasn’t found. Bruce asks: “Where do I start?”

I believe this Calling is within every human being. Each of us is a spark of the Divine which is always calling us to fully express our true selves in the world. No matter where we are or what we are doing we are called to soul-work as well as our daily work.

Likely you have heard the Zen joke. Before enlightenment: Chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment: Chop wood, carry water. Whatever we do is an opportunity to express the greatness of our being or soul or true self. In this we ARE doing great work in the world.

Where Do I Start?

I also suggested practices to Bruce that have helped me more fully know my purpose and calling.
• Quiet, meditative time, daily.
• Journaling first thing every morning.
• Asking my guidance important questions morning and night and within my journal.
• Paying attention to and journaling the daily miracles in my life.
• Listening to the still whispers arising from my being’s core.
• Retreats to nature with my query to God tucked within my heart.

We Love to Hear From You!

Dennis, another reader responded to Bruce’s query with a worthy question and wisdom for us to ponder asking: "Am I really seeing the beauty of the things I have in my life already? You are probably already doing wonderful things for which you give yourself little credit.

This is not to say you should not be open to new things. In my own case, though, the many times I've experienced a longing for what I did not have were usually more about my blindness to present circumstances than about the circumstances themselves.” Thank you, for that Dennis.

Dear Reader: What words of wisdom would you offer to Bruce’s query of: “Where do I start?” Jump over to “Finding Your Passion” forum by clicking here. Offer your thoughts, or write us your inspirational story or query. We’d love to hear from YOU!

Until next month… Blessings to you all,
